And the Gudong goes to...
Not for the first time, the Instant Cafe Theatre have outdone themselves with their latest production! Having already missed the first one late last year, I definately wasn't gong to let this chance pass by. For a Thursday night, I'd say the turnout came as a suprise. The show was sold out for the evening, and not a seat was spared.
Hostess for the night was none other than Jo herself, aka Miss Ribena Berry (the artist formerly known as Ambrosia La La). She did a pretty good job keeping the crowd entertained with her wacky Manglish antics, but the real fun came from the rest of the cast.
Like all ICT skits, they tend to be politically charged. You'll see what I mean in a while. What do you get when you come across the ISA and Who wants to be a Millionaire? Why, it's everyones favourite show, 'You can't say That!'. The grand prize? A job at the government civil department where you'll have your very own 'kounter tutup' sign, never ending tea breaks and a limited edition Putrajaya tudung to go with! How could anyone turn down a prize like that?! Before all that though, contestants are to correctly answer many gruelling questions in a Voight-Kampff manner, like;
"A Reformasi supporter is screaming obscenities towards the government in a demonstration, along with a few others in the hot sun, trying in vain to rally the public. But he can't. Not without your help. But you're not helping. Why is that?"
Okay I made that one up, but by now you ought to know the sort of questions that were posed during the show :)
Right, i'm not going to play theatre critic here and go through the whole 2 hours of insane comedy, but all I can conclude is that the audience were simply left standing for more, literally speaking. Thinking there might have been another 'easter egg' performance, the cast had to convince the audience that there wasn't really anything left, many bows and curtsies later! We got shooed off eventually :P
It's only days away, and i'm dreading Monday already.
