Rakkii!

Know that Radiohead competition by Red104.9? Well, i'm just about 3 hours away to find out if i'm heading to Tokyo for this year's SummerSonic gig! The list of performers are amazing... even Blondie and Cheap Trick are making appearences!

I still can't believe my luck. (egads! There There is playing on Radiostorm now! Good omen?) The coincidental shock is still sinking in. Picture this:

I drive into my parking lot, and just as I was about to leave the car Terry goes on and mentions the que to call would be right after the coming song. So I grab my bag, and ran straight to the office. Situation turned for the worse when I found out that there wasn't a radio around in the entire office! After some thorough searching, I gave up, looked at the time, waited a few seconds, and finally decided to give it a shot.

First call, engaged.

Second call, ditto.

Third call,

Some Guy: Congratulations! Dr. Lurve on the line, can I have your name and number please.

me: Hurh? I'm the 9th caller?

Dr. Lurve: Why yes you are!

me: (still bummed, but provides personal details anyway and goes on to win the cd and that chance)

And that was it. Mmm still radioless, guess i'll have to listen for the announcement in the car. Erk, it's beginning to rain!

Adios, Instant Cafe Theatre

I'm still trying to convince myself that the story running on the front page news of The Star is nothing more than a bad, bad joke.

How could it be?! I was already praying for a sequel right after I stepped out of the theatre! After some more reading, it was this ridiculous complaint that sparked everything.

"Bolehwood Awards teater komedi yang melampau" my ass! Get real, if it really was spreading social ills, i'm pretty damn sure a racial riot would've broke out there and then! Very Malaysian, isn't it? Find a little bit of Westernism, release the dogs.

This does not bode well. Is it just a matter of time before the censorship board get their hands on local theatre?

And the Gudong goes to...

The 2nd First Annual Bolehwood AwardsNot for the first time, the Instant Cafe Theatre have outdone themselves with their latest production! Having already missed the first one late last year, I definately wasn't gong to let this chance pass by. For a Thursday night, I'd say the turnout came as a suprise. The show was sold out for the evening, and not a seat was spared.

Hostess for the night was none other than Jo herself, aka Miss Ribena Berry (the artist formerly known as Ambrosia La La). She did a pretty good job keeping the crowd entertained with her wacky Manglish antics, but the real fun came from the rest of the cast.

Like all ICT skits, they tend to be politically charged. You'll see what I mean in a while. What do you get when you come across the ISA and Who wants to be a Millionaire? Why, it's everyones favourite show, 'You can't say That!'. The grand prize? A job at the government civil department where you'll have your very own 'kounter tutup' sign, never ending tea breaks and a limited edition Putrajaya tudung to go with! How could anyone turn down a prize like that?! Before all that though, contestants are to correctly answer many gruelling questions in a Voight-Kampff manner, like;

"A Reformasi supporter is screaming obscenities towards the government in a demonstration, along with a few others in the hot sun, trying in vain to rally the public. But he can't. Not without your help. But you're not helping. Why is that?"

Okay I made that one up, but by now you ought to know the sort of questions that were posed during the show :)

On with the show... Everyone's got a problem

Right, i'm not going to play theatre critic here and go through the whole 2 hours of insane comedy, but all I can conclude is that the audience were simply left standing for more, literally speaking. Thinking there might have been another 'easter egg' performance, the cast had to convince the audience that there wasn't really anything left, many bows and curtsies later! We got shooed off eventually :P

It's only days away, and i'm dreading Monday already.

'Tis been a long time coming!

Oooh, first post of the month :P

I'm less than a month away before I:

i. move in to the new place
ii. get homeless!

Only kidding about the latter :) The last few attempts of house hunting has been futile. It seems that the new apartments over in SS2 has been snapped up with new tenants! Aiieee, and just a few weeks ago units were splashed all over the classifieds. Talk about bad timing. On the other hand, there's already a room up for grabs at Anne's place in Pantai Hillpark aka TrafficJam Jaya. Grrr, but should I go for it?!

Had my first kendo class over the weekend. The results? Sore arms and a stretched back. I gotta admit it, prancing around with shinais swinging is no easy task. Coordinating my footing (feels like doing the tango at times!) and my striking alignment is going to take some time, not to mention the customs involved in this quasi-spiritual exercise. Like all beginners, screw ups are bound to happen. For one, I had my head bashed when my partner misjudged his distance. Itai-desu! Good thing we're not using steel cold katanas.

Shit, i'm already late for my next lesson.
