Rasa Sayang no more?
Before anyone picks up the papers tomorrow and reads about it, allow me to break this sad piece of news to you folks:
The Rasa Sayang Resort we all have come to know and love, is closing down...
Well, at least for the next two years for a whole new look, that is. I'm not talking about renovations, they're tearing it down.
Dad sounded a little dismayed when he told me about it earlier this evening. I can't help but to share his thoughts. Having been attached with the resort for a good 27 years plus, he's got every right to feel that way. Then again it was inevitable; rooms hadn't been renovated for the past 12 years, and to make things worse the foundation is said to be giving way. So before another Highland Towers occur, maybe it's about time for a newer resort.
I don't recall much about spending a great deal of time at the resort, except for the fact that it has this HUGE tree house in front of the new wing. Scares me to think that I've actually gone beyond the platforms and up to the branches above, once upon a time :) And then I think about the bizarre mishaps Dad told us once, that involved unfortunate para-sailers gliding past the resort and straight onto main roads, coconut trees, apartment buildings across the street, lol you name it :D
So three cheers to the resort that had stood out from the rest, and over the decades, charmed and made lasting impressions to all who had visited Penang island.
